LCD screens have following advantages over a CRT screen:
- less power consumption(Considerable)
- greater viewing area(as advertised-15 inch gives you 15 inch unlike CRT where it is not exactly 15 but lesser)
- less strain on eyes compared to CRT
- Widescreen viewing allows for nice multimedia experience.
However one thing that you will miss in LCD screens is the glossy effect that was in CRT screens and which varies from person to person. I always loved it. I hate the matte finish in LCD screens. It takes the glow away. But nowadays LCD with glossy finish are also available. They have TN + FILM mentioned in the specification sheet. While Matte Finish monitors have just TN mentioned.
