Instead of looking at sys/admin jobs, concentrate on help desk positions, they often require less credentials. You can search online at your favorite job search site to see what the minimum requirements are, and get that certification! Once you have your foot in the door, you can get the additional training (paid for by the company, hopefully) to get the educational requirements and the work experience you need to move up the ladder.

Oh, and my usual advice – since you are in school, you should contact your office of internships and the career placement office – you might be able to get an internship in such a position that will get you more practical information about an IT career, and the career placement office has many resources that you should start taking advantage of now so that you are in the best position to get the job of your dreams when you graduate.
