On a side note, the way most of these promotions work, the manufacturer writes a check for a million dollars to the charity, then manufactures a million boxes that say, “a portion of the proceeds goes to…” not vice versa. Not entirely correct. It's generally structured as a licensing agreement similar to what authors or musicians receive. The manufacturer guarantees an advance. Once the advance earns out, donations to the charity are calculated through the same mechanism as royalties on any other licensing agreement. The companies I worked with paid charitable donations to Komen in the exact same way they paid royalties to Disney. That's where my bitterness comes in to play. These charities aren't high-minded sanctuaries of goodness. Their marketing reps are as hard-balled as any rep for any other license. And they treat the “charity” as a brand, just like any other license.]]>

Microsoft’s mobile operating system hits platinum-and-a-half milestone as company emphasizes a "long run" strategy. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 has been on the market since November 8 in North America, and it appears as if the device is off to, if not a spectacular, at least respectable start. Today, Microsoft announced that Windows Phone 7 devices sold-in more than 1.5 million units within six weeks. However, the Redmond, Washington-based company did not indicate how many units had been sold through to consumers. 1.5 million units in six weeks is a good start, says Microsoft. As part of an internal interview, Microsoft vice president of business and marketing for Windows Phones Achim Berg emphasized that the company’s goal for success in the mobile market is not predicated on short-term sales milestones. He also noted that comparing Windows Phone 7 sales to the competition would be an "apples-to-oranges" effort. "Our numbers are similar to the performance of other first generation…

Surely the only measure that matters is a nations ability to suffer attrition to its armed forced.
China has a total population of 1.3 Billion people. which is about 4 times has great as the US. If a conventional war where to happen between the US and china then the americans would have to kill 5 Chinese for each american life lost which in face to face combat might be difficult, The only possible way in which a war of attrition could be won by the americans would be due to its better superior military equipment (stealth bombers, and cruise missile Technologies).
